Madam Jamima Wolokolie is the Deputy Minister for Small Business Administration, she drives and implements the Small Business Act which promotes and foster the interest of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) as well as Large enterprises by empowering Liberian-owned SMEs through the award of 25% of Government’s Procurement Contracts as required by statute. As espoused by the Government of Liberia Pro Poor Agenda for Prosperity & Development (PAPD), the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) development is hinged on Pillar Two of the PAPD which focuses on the Economy and Jobs with the objective of ensuring SMEs remain the main entry point to the labor market for youth, women and disadvantaged groups, especially for those without formal education.

 

Prior to her appointment at the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Madam Wolokolie worked extensively as a seasoned administrator both in the private and public sector at home and internationally, to name a few portfolios she served in; Assistant Manager of Continental Airlines, Senior Broker of Prudential Insurance Company New Jersey, Account Analyst of Horizontal Bank Tiffany, New Jersey. She also worked in Liberia at the Agricultural & Cooperative Development Bank as Junior Auditor, Research Officer at the Local Government Agency amongst others.

 

As Deputy Minister for Small Business Administration, she has engaged national and international partners to pursue programs that would strengthen Liberian-owned businesses through capacity-building, access to finance and enhancing the transition of petty traders from the informal to the formal sector, thereby spurring private sector development and growth.

 

Through her instrumentality as head of Small Business Administration, Minister Wolokolie negotiated with the World Bank (WB) in upgrading the National Standard Lab (NSL) to international standards and supporting agricultural productivity and farmers commercialization for Agri SMEs to include mechanize Cocoa farming and the construction of a packaging plant for local produce; this is being done in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Finance & Development Planning. With support from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) she and her team are also enhancing Liberian SMEs access small seed loan and training to improve and expand their businesses.
Minister Wolokolie was born in September 17, 1956 to the union of the late Mr. Joseph Thomas Hallowanger and Mrs. Esther Bendu Hallowanger, her siblings include eight sisters and two brothers. She was married to the statesman Honorable Dusty L. Wolokolie and is surrounded by the warmth embrace of six loving children namely; Henrietta Cox, Samora Wolokolie, Mainjutsu Wolokolie, Rodney Wolokolie, Saybah Wolokolie, and Zubah Wolokolie.

 

Minister Wolokolie holds a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration coupled with several professional Diplomas and Certificates.   

 

Madam Wolokolie is a staunch and devoted member of the First United Methodist Church, Monrovia Rotary Club, SMT and IOGT fraternities among others.
