The Bureau of Industrial Services was established in June, 1962 by an Act of the Liberia Legislature, and is the primary architect for the advancement of industrial development in Liberia.
The Deputy Minister for Industry and Inspector General oversees the activities of the Bureau including monitoring, regulating, promoting, and facilitating the growth, development and expansion of the industrial sector in Liberia.
The Assistant Minister for Industry who is the Technical Officer with management oversight of the day to day operations of the Bureau assists the Deputy Minister for Industry and Inspector General.
The Bureau of Industrial Services has five divisions headed by Directors, the Directors report to the Assistant Minister for Industry and the Assistant Minister report to the Deputy Minister for Industry for onward submission to the Minister of Commerce and Industry.
The Five Divisions include: Division of Industrial Development & Compliance Support, Division of Standards, Division of Inspectorate, National Standard Laboratory and Consumer Education and Protection Unit.
