Gardnersville, Montserrado County | October 19, 2026. In a move aimed at strengthening government engagement with Liberiaโs industrial sector and promoting domestic manufacturing, the Acting Minister of Commerce and Industry, Hon. Stephen Yekeson Jr., accompanied by his principal Deputy Ministers, today conducted an industrial tour of the Monrovia Industrial Park (MIP), situated in Gardnersville Township, Montserrado County. The Acting Minister was accompanied by Hon. Tarnue N. Jeke, Deputy Minister for Administration, Hon. Andrew G. Paygar-Flangiah, Deputy Minister for Industry, Hon. Wilmot A. Reeves, Deputy Minister for Commerce and Trade, and Hon. Benedict Amos Dolo, Deputy Minister for Small Business Administration.
The high-level visit reflects the Ministry of Commerce and Industryโs continued interest in fostering a productive relationship between government and private-sector manufacturers, while gaining firsthand insight into industrial operations, production activities, and the opportunities available for expanding Liberiaโs manufacturing capacity.
During the industrial tour, the Acting Minister and his delegation visited several manufacturing establishments operating within the Park, including Liberia Paper Products & Carton Factory, Inc.; FOUANI Brothers Corporation, comprising its Biscuits Factory, Salt Refinery, Soap Factory, and Carton Factory; Sethi Brothers; and other industrial facilities. The visit provided an important opportunity for the Ministryโs leadership to observe the diversity of manufacturing activities taking place within the industrial environment and appreciate the contributions of these enterprises to Liberiaโs productive economy.
From the production of essential household commodities to food processing, packaging materials, and other manufactured goods, the facilities represent an important component of Liberiaโs efforts to strengthen domestic production and reduce excessive reliance on imported finished products. Beyond observing industrial operations, the tour underscored the importance of sustained collaboration between the Government of Liberia and private-sector manufacturers in advancing national economic priorities. Industrial development remains essential to Liberiaโs economic transformation, particularly in creating employment opportunities, encouraging investment, promoting value addition, and expanding opportunities for Liberian-owned small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).
As Liberia continues pursuing its national development priorities under President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr.โs ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development (AAID), the industrial sector remains a significant area for economic diversification and private-sector-led growth.
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry remains committed to promoting an enabling business environment in which existing industries can thrive, new investments can emerge, and Liberian entrepreneurs can participate meaningfully in the countryโs economic transformation.
