Beware of Fraudsters: Commerce Ministry Cautions Public

Increasing social media publications alleging that the Ministry of Commerce & Industry is soliciting applications from the public for loan opportunities have once more claimed the Ministry’s attention.  The Ministry is deeply concerned about these Social Media insinuations as they have the propensity to cause reputational damage if prompt clarifications are not made for the benefit of the citizens who are in search of these worthy opportunities

The falsehood, making rounds on the social media is the making of unscrupulous elements who are glaringly bent on money extortion through the creation of fake and dubious Social Media Links.

The Ministry of Commerce & Industry is warning the public, mainly the business community against doing any business with these people as anyone or group doing so will be taking a serious risk.

We wish to be emphatic that all information concerning the Ministry’s loans and other programs will always be properly communicated through our official Platforms. This includes the Ministry’s Website (www.moci.gov.lr) & Facebook Page: www.https://facebook.com/mociliberia or designated spokesperson.

It is unfortunate that while the advent of the social media has been hailed for its effective nature in getting information to the public in the fastest way, it is gradually becoming a tool for extortion and misinformation by some unscrupulous elements in society.

The various Hotlines are available for the public to get in to with the Ministry in case of any other eventuality.
