Commerce Minister: Magdalene Dagoseh & Partners

The Formal Launch of the Private Sector Development (PSD) Programme

A landmark €24.8 million Private Sector Development (PSD) programme has been officially launched in Liberia, marking a significant step toward strengthening the country’s economic landscape.

The programme aims to enhance competitiveness, inclusivity, and environmental sustainability within the cassava, fisheries, and food-processing value chains, with a strong focus on boosting decent job creation, stimulating economic growth, and expanding opportunities for Liberian MSMEs.

Launched today, December 3, 2025, at the Ministry of Commerce & Industry in Congo Town, the PSD initiative also emphasizes strategic interventions to address structural barriers to decent work, particularly for Persons With Disabilities (PWDs). The project seeks to promote their full participation and meaningful contribution to Liberia’s labour market.

The ceremony brought together a wide range of local and international development partners, including representatives from the European Union, members of the diplomatic corps, and officials from supporting agencies.

Prominent attendees included:

  • H.E. Isabelle Le Guellec, French Ambassador accredited near Monrovia

  • Ludovica Poponcini, Project Coordinator

  • Senior officials of the Ministry of Commerce & Industry

Delivering the keynote address, Hon. Magdalene E. Dagoseh, Minister of Commerce & Industry, praised the PSD initiative as a timely investment that will advance Liberia’s quest for economic diversification, sector resilience, and private-sector empowerment.
